Summer Bridge Program

 

Oakwood University Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program, HBCU-UP, strives through its nine member institutions to increase the quality and quantity of underrepresented Minority students completing baccalaureate degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The Summer Bridge Enrichment Program is a two-week virtual session that allows high school seniors to participate in enriching online courses that prepare them for future academic success. Students will participate in research, mentoring, academic enrichment, opportunities for networking and receive information about graduate schools across the country. During the school year, students are eligible to be selected for a paid research opportunity. Those selected for the scholarship will participate in research, mentoring, academic enrichment, opportunities for networking and receive information about graduate schools across the country.

Eligibility

To participate in the Oakwood University HBCU-UP program an applicant must be:

  1. Planning to attend Oakwood University
  2. Planning to major in the Sciences or Mathematics
  3. Planning to attend graduate school after graduation
  4. U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
  5. Interested in conducting research
  6. Minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) must be maintained during the Academic Year

    1. Completed Application
    2. Official High School Transcript
    3. Essay (1-2 pages) Expressing Interest and Career Goals
    4. Three Letters of Recommendation
