For years, Oakwood University has consistently been ranked by the U.S. News & World Report as one of the best regional colleges and universities to attend. School Song

Composed by Otis B. Edwards, Sr., and which by 1958 had been in full swing for some two decades or more wafting through these halls of learning. In 1965, Edwards commissioned a Music Department teacher, Harold Anthony, to set the traditional school song to
written form and four-part harmony.

Oakwood University is situated on 1,185 beautiful acres, located in Huntsville, Alabama, the heart of the scenic Tennessee Valley. Our campus offers the perfect blend of historic landmarks, modern buildings and amenities, fit for the 21st century student. Well manicured lawns and tree-filled parks offer an ideal, serene setting amid the bustle of academic life. Oakwood offers nature trails, modern and spacious dorms, exercise facilities, numerous study areas, and state-of-the-art classrooms.

What college experience is complete without extracurricular activities? There is something for everyone as our students have access to academic, social, international, performing arts, athletic, leadership, professional, honor societies, ministries, and service organizations. Is traveling your thing? Take advantage of opportunities to travel abroad or domestically through our Adventist College Abroad program (ACA), or a service opportunity with our missions club, 4Him.

Oakwood competes in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, Division 1, where our men’s basketball team has won two national championships. We also offer teams for men in soccer and baseball. Our women compete in volleyball, soccer, basketball, and softball. We also have six lighted tennis courts, a running track, swim teams that practice in our Olympic-sized pool, racquetball and a fun-filled roller skating rink.

Oakwood is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees.  In addition, the following programs are further accredited through national and professional associations: Business, Dietetics, Social Work, Education, and Nursing.

Get Here

From I-65: I-65 to Interstate 565 East; to Research Park Blvd., exit 14 (north). Follow to Oakwood Road, turn right. Follow Oakwood Road into Adventist Blvd; proceed to campus entrance on the left.
Note: I-565 is the route from Huntsville International Airport to the Campus.

From 231/431: 231/431 to Sparkman Drive, go West to Adventist Blvd., turn right; proceed to campus on right.

From 72: 72 South from Scottsboro to 565 West; I-565 to exit 14, Rideout Road to Oakwood Road, turn right; follow Oakwood Road into Adventist Blvd., proceed to campus entrance on the left.

Alternate: At signs for I-565 (fork in the road, near top (Hwy. 72) of hill), stay in right lane; Hwy. 72 (alt.) turns into Sparkman Drive. Cross Memorial Parkway, Blue Springs Road, Pulaski Pike, Jordan Lane (Hwy. 53). Turn right at next traffic light after Jordan Lane, which is Adventist Blvd. Proceed to campus entrance on the right.
