I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in joining the Department of Education. The Department of Education is approved by the Alabama State Department of Education to offer the following programs:

  • Elementary Education
  • English Education
  • Mathematics Education
  • Social Science Education
  • Religious Education

All programs are nationally accredited. by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) The selected improvement commission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) at its October 2016 meeting, continued the NCATE accreditation of the EPP at Oakwood University. More than 90% of our graduates are employed in the teaching field.

Distinguished Alumni

Timekee D. Battle , Ph.D., has made significant contributions in the Washington, D.C., area, advocating for Christian education, hospitality, community service, and charitable giving with young girls and women who seek to understand and experience God’s purpose for them. She facilitates the Women of Excellence (WE), a forum to empower, motivate and encourage each other. Another of her projects, WE WORK, is a resource for Christian working women to provide relevant information to enhance their professional development from a spiritual perspective.
