Dr. Prudence Pollard, Vice President for Research and Faculty Development and Dean for the School of Graduate Studies is pleased to announce Dr. Dawn M. Turner, Associate Professor of Management as Assistant Vice President for Research and Faculty Development and Director for Adult & Continuing Education (LEAP).

Dr. Turner, a graduate of Oakwood University, brings over 20 years of dynamic experience in contracts and program management to her pivotal role as an Assistant Vice President. Throughout her illustrious career, she has adeptly navigated complex contracts and overseen multifaceted programs for leading consulting firms, private sector organizations, and federal agencies, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Her scholarly pursuits have centered around knowledge management in federal contexts, culminating in earning a Doctor of Management degree from the University of Maryland University College (now Global Campus). Dr. Turner’s unwavering commitment to advancing the next generation of leaders, particularly those shaped by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), fuels her enthusiasm for these exciting roles.

With God as her foundation, Dr. Turner’s expertise in organizational management positions her to make a lasting impact on Faculty Development and Adult Continuing Education. Her leadership is characterized by:

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Turner enjoys a rich personal life. Together with her husband Larry, she cherishes moments with their son, two dogs, one bird, and a turtle. When not immersed in her work, she finds solace in crafting, hiking, and shopping.
